My name is Lockhart Brownlie. I am 16 years old and have lived all my life in Launceston, Tasmania, an island state of Australia.

Where do I begin? It's been a long and interesting journey already. I have been dancing since the age of 3 and competitively since the age of 4 in the disciplines of ballet, national, tap, jazz, song and dance, both as a solo artist and in groups. However, over the ensuing years I have broadened my experiences to include teaching dance, fulfilling various choreography roles, acting and performing in musicals. I am particularly interested in dancing and acting as a career and to that end I already have enjoyed some success.

I have participated in 14 stage productions. In a number of these Shows I was a named performer, including Caucasian Chalk Circle performed by the University Performing Arts Faculty; and Hello Dolly, 42nd Street, Nuncrackers, Music Man, A Kid's Christmas, Annie Get Your Gun, and Anything Goes, A One Night Stand with the Launceston Musical Society. Many of the shows were performed to capacity audiences of up to 1000 patrons at Launceston's Princess Theatre. Also as a student of St. Patrick's College I was the Artful Dodger in Oliver and Joseph in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

A recent highlight would be Convict Cutters' Dark Desires Hair Show in 2005, in which I performed and was one of three choreographers. I was also then chosen by Convict Cutters to take a small six minute piece from the show to perform in Sydney at the 2005 Hair Expo.

In 2005 at the age of 15, I was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Victorian College of the Arts, however, I elected not to pursue this opportunity deciding instead to remain in Launceston for one final year to complete studies.

I am currently in year 11 at Newstead College, a local Senior Secondary College. I chose this College because of their excellence in performing arts, and the chance to travel to California as part of a touring theatre group in September 2006. At Newstead College I was again successful in auditioning for the role as Scarecrow in their production of The Wizard of Oz. This show had a 2 week season at the Princess Theatre playing to over 11,000 people.

I am currently the choreographer for the Launceston Musical Society's production of 'The Little Shop of Horrors'. I am also modeling in and choreographing the Examiner's Spring Fashion Parades for Launceston Fashion Week.

During the past few years I have really enjoyed my involvement in the Sourcedance Workshops. Working with these experienced choreographers has been both inspirational and fantastic. I have been very appreciative of the support given to me from the Sourcedance team. My other interests included being an Australian Diving champion in my age group and represented Australia at a World Junior Diving Competition in Perth Western Australia.

I am now of an age when I need to 'spread my wings' and to do that I am moving to Sydney and intend auditioning for entry into various performing arts companies or to otherwise seek opportunities in dancing, acting or the theatre. I am passionate about pursing a career in the performing arts and I am anxious to experience all that it has to offer.
